This is an excellent example of a thorough forum answer.  The specific design elements, and expected user behavior, associated with an effective landing page are discussed.  This posting was supposed to be regarding Google's Rating of your landing page, however the author discusses a pretty well rounded approach to maximizing the effectiveness of your landing pages, so it's worth a read. The only thing I really disagree with is the author's advice regarding web site navigation.  However, I think the motivation for mentioning it as as solution is warrented and educational.

The design elements of a landing page:

  • Navigation
  • Call to Action Buttons
  • Content layout
  • Testimonials, Sample Work, at least product images
  • Focus on starting/completing sales funnel
